SSIC Sub-class 08101 – Stone quarrying

Companies in this sub-class take building and monument stone out of the earth. Examples are marble, granite, sandstone and slate, which they may also roughly trim or saw at the quarry.

The sub-class also covers quarrying and crushing of limestone, mining of gypsum, chalk and dolomite that is not calcined, dredging of gravel, and crushing of stone and gravel. Cutting and finishing of stone away from the quarry is classified elsewhere.
