SSIC Sub-class 37000 – Operation of sewer systems

Companies in this sub-class operate sewer systems and plants that treat wastewater from homes, industry and swimming pools. Treatment uses physical, chemical or biological steps, such as screening, filtering and settling. It includes treatment of water for reuse, and freeze drying of sewage sludge.

The sub-class also covers the cleaning and maintenance of sewers and drains, including sewer rodding, the emptying of septic tanks, cesspools and pits, and the servicing of chemical toilets. Sewer construction and the rental of portable toilets are classified elsewhere.
