SSIC Division 28 – Manufacture of machinery and equipment

Companies in this division make, repair or install machinery and equipment that works on materials by mechanical or thermal means, or carries out operations on them.

General purpose machinery includes engines and turbines, pumps and valves, bearings and gears, furnaces, lifting equipment, lifts and escalators, office machines, robots, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, welding equipment and packaging machines. Special purpose machinery is for one type of industry, such as farming, metalworking, oil and gas, construction, food and drink, textiles, semiconductors, water treatment and 3D printing. The division also covers the installation of industrial machinery in plants.
